Yvette Roman is a bi-national artist, curator, muralist, and arts educator. Her artwork explores simplicity and chaos, interweaving memories of loss, self-discovery, and personal insecurities. Disciplines include painting, photography, printmaking, and collage. Her artwork weaves. She has exhibited work in the United States, Mexico, and Egypt.

She is a Curator and Lead Visual Arts instructor at A Reason to Survive (ARTS). In 2020, Roman founded ArteDomus on the idea that we can create art together from home and Art Box San Diego, a public arts initiative to beautify utility boxes and paint murals across San Diego County. She is a commissioned muralist and was a featured artist at Heavy Duty, A SteamRoller Printmaking Exhibition, and Drive-Thru exhibition at Mesa College Art Gallery.   In 2020, she was a featured artist for the Latinx New Play Festival.  Her solo exhibition “Fragments” was displayed by Hanalei Artwork and at Alternate Roots in North Carolina.  Roman has guest-curated at the Centro Cultural de la Raza, The San Diego Repertory Theater, and Amigos del Rep.

For Park Social, Roman is working with frequent collaborator Sheena Rae Dowling on a project. Roman met Dowling in 2016 while working as a teaching artist at La Maestra Foundation, a non-profit located in City Heights, San Diego, CA. They have collaborated on several projects, including murals, curation, live performances, facilitating community circles, and public art installations. The collective serves the community by offering free and accessible art in classes, public art, and performances. Their work centers on trauma-informed care and restorative practices. In September of 2021, they completed a mural for San Diego Downtown Partnership.
